The Anti-Racist Alliance Trust (aratrust) and London Anti-Racist Alliance (LARA) are multi-ethnic, grass-roots organisations and were formed to take effective action against racism. Racism is both morally repugnant and a threat to our society as it divides people and all too often leads to physical conflict.
aratrust challenges racism by educating the public through meetings, seminars, training, projects and publications; by supporting people subject to racism; and by offering them opportunities for training and work experience. LARA aims to expose and to democratically oppose all forms of racism.
aratrust and LARA are inspired by the ideals of the national ARA organisation which used to exist in the early 1990s. These ideals included combating racism at whatever level and in whatever form under a democratically elected leadership which had direct experience of the effects of racism.
aratrust and LARA are opposed to all forms of discrimination including discrimination on the grounds of gender, sexual preference, age, disability, nationality, colour, ethnic origin, religion, beliefs and culture.
aratrust and LARA encourage maximum participation by their members in all their activities and will work with all people and democratic organisations who agree with their principles.
